I've been offered an Adaptronic e420c for a reasonable price. I wondered what else I might need to fit this to my Cappo.
I know I'll need an ECU loom-converter, are these still available from Adaptronic themselves, does any one know ? Or can I just get the plugs and wire one up myself ? Do I also need a :- MAP sensor ? Knock sensor ? Analogue throttle position sensor ? Water temperature sensor ?
I have an electronic Boost controller, can this be connected to the Adaptronic ?
Thanks in advance, and if I do buy it, appologes for the multitude of silly questions I'll be asking.

You could buy a loomplug from japan and wire it up yourself. I doubt adaptronic would still be doing the wireing service.
Standard MAP sensor is fine for running stock boost. If you can however get a 3bar MAP sensor for a reasonable price, would probably be a good idea to buy it Knock sensor isnt NEEDED but to get the most out of the adaptronic it would be a good idea to get one. Analogue TPS sensor also isnt needed but might be a good idea. Stock water temp sensor will be fine. With the sensors, the only real benifit of getting them straight up is in that it will take less to fine tune your fuel/ignition maps in the long term (you dont need to do it for the stock sensor and the new one.
As for the boost controller, it 'could' be set up so that the adaptronic controls it however this wouldnt be a simple thing to do. Id suggest to simply use it as you have been up until now. |

Wirring upthe loop plug yourself would definately be the best idea, especially as Adaptronic got it wrong on 2 of ours. I think wayne has the socket that you'll need.
I'd say definately go for a 2.5 or 3ar map sensor and an Analogue TPS. I'd carry on using your current boost controller, at least till you get used to 'playing' with the software - boost control setup in the adaptronic is somewhat fiddly to get right.
If you can get it at a reasonable price then go for it, it's the last ecu you'll ever need to buy! |

Adaptronic sell the 3 bar map sensors for about $ 50.00 AUD if you want one but as stated above the standard sensor would be fine until you get a handle on the software which doesnt take very long anyway.
Adaptronic would make you a loom if you supplied the cappo wiring harness adapator plug but it would be much cheaper to do it yourself and we can supply the wireing diagram (pin in/outs) with the wire colours to make it easy to do yourself. The plug will cost between $ 100.00 & $ 150.00 AUD depending on where you source it.
One thing you will need is an ignitor which may come with the ECU you are looking at but if it doesnt they are about $ 50.00 AUD from Adaptronic also.
The Nissan TPS (mentioned in another thread here) is probably the easiest and neatest to fit and you can pick them up quite cheaply at a wreckers, but again that could be fitted at a later date. |

Thanks for the replies.
Just to clarify, if I bought the ECU, and the wiring harness adaptor, the only additional piece I'd need to start with, would be an ignitor ?
Would this one do the job ? (EFI-parts seem to be the UK Adaptronic dealers).

That one is perfect, I've used it with my Adaptronic. It's worth buying the plug too - makes wiring everything up much simpler. |

Youichi,
Just to clarify that the minimum required parts are as follows.
- Adaptronic ECU. E42C (Make sure it's not an E420B) - Adaptronic short wiring loom. - Cappo wiring harness adaptor plug. - Ignitor with plug just like the one you posted above.
Optional extras you can fit at a later date. - Analouge TPS. - 3 Bar MAP sensor. - Knock sensor. - Wideband Oxygen sensor. - Larger injectors.
If you fit some of the optional parts you will most probably need colder spark plug's as well. I have had to put colder plugs in my cappo. |
